A little liquid courage.

So, a man walked into a bar. He tried to appear casual, but he was noticeably huffing and his eyes were quite shifty. He sat down on the bar stool and before he could speak, he bartender looked at him square in the eyes and asked, “Are you underage young man?”. He was sure that he would get the standard denial.

That day was different, Joe was too tired to pretend or argue. He jumped off the bar stool and sauntered out. The bartender just smiled to himself. Some days his stare could work wonders.

Outside, Joe sighed and knelt on the ground with his hands behind his head. The cops had just reached the bar and their guns were ready and cocked to fire. Could you blame a man for wanting a drink before ending up in the slammer?

  2. I like how you continually drew us in then saved the “reveal” until we became more invested in the story.

  7. not bad at all I’ve heard stories where a bounty hunter would take the person who they are taking back to the lock up to a bar buy the person a drink, and let him have a smoke before turning him in…

Totally didn’t see that coming….good job! Reminds me of the Rehab song The Bartender Song…..also, it brings up the political question of why minors can be tried as adults and face adult penalties but in every other area of society be treated as children. I don’t know if that was your intention, but if it was, it was subtle and well done.
